The short version
- We collect as little as possible. Most of what you do in our apps stays on your phone.
- We never sell your personal data.
- Some apps show ads from Google AdMob, which uses your device's advertising ID. You can reset or delete that ID in your phone's settings at any time.
- You can ask us to see, correct or delete your data at any time by writing to sabbu.ask@gmail.com.
1. Who we are
"Super Apps for India" is a brand of Timepass Apps ("Timepass Apps", "we", "us", "our"), based in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. This policy explains how we handle personal data in our mobile apps (the "Apps") and on this website (the "Site"), together the "Services".
For the purposes of India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 ("DPDP Act"), Timepass Apps is the Data Fiduciary for the personal data described here. You can reach us at sabbu.ask@gmail.com.
2. What this policy covers
This policy applies to every app we publish under the Super Apps for India or Timepass Apps name on Google Play or any other store, including:
Where an app has its own section below, that section adds detail for that app. If anything in an app section differs from the general sections, the app section applies to that app.
3. What we collect, and why
3.1 Information you choose to give us
- Things you type into an app — for example, a display name, or family dates you add to a shared Family Circle. We use these only to run the feature you are using.
- Messages you send us — your email address and whatever you write, so we can reply.
3.2 Information collected automatically
- App usage and diagnostics — which screens are opened, taps on features, app version, crash reports, device model, OS version, language and country. We use this, via Google Firebase, to fix bugs and improve the apps. It is not used to identify you personally.
- Device identifiers — the Android advertising ID (in apps that show ads), and a Firebase installation ID and push-notification token so that reminders reach your phone.
- Approximate location derived from IP address — our advertising and analytics partners may infer a broad region (such as a city or country) from your internet connection. We do not use your phone's GPS for ads or analytics.
3.3 Information that stays on your phone
Many features work entirely on your device and we never receive the data: your settings, your chosen city and rasi, personal reminders you do not share, photos you take, and text-to-speech playback. If you uninstall the app, this data is removed with it.
3.4 What we do not collect
We do not collect your contacts, SMS, call logs, files, payment card details, Aadhaar, PAN or other government identifiers, health data, or precise location on our servers.
4. How we use data
| Purpose | Data used | Basis |
|---|---|---|
| Provide app features (e.g. Family Circle, reminders) | Data you enter, notification token | Your consent; performing the service you asked for |
| Send notifications you have switched on | Notification token, your reminder settings | Your consent (you can turn them off any time) |
| Show ads that keep the app free | Advertising ID, approximate region, ad interactions | Your consent, managed through the consent screen and your device settings |
| Fix crashes, measure and improve the apps | Usage and diagnostic data | Legitimate use for operating a reliable service |
| Reply to you and handle requests or grievances | Email address, your message | Your consent; legal obligation |
| Prevent fraud and abuse; comply with law | Relevant logs | Legal obligation |
We do not use your data to make automated decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects on you.
5. Who we share data with
We never sell personal data. We share data only with service providers who process it on our behalf, under contract, and only for the purposes above:
- Google Firebase (Analytics, Crashlytics, Cloud Messaging, Firestore/Authentication where a feature needs it) — hosting, analytics, crash reports and notifications. Firebase privacy.
- Google AdMob — ads in apps that show them. Google may use the advertising ID and cookies to show personalised or non-personalised ads, depending on your choices. How Google uses data from apps that use its services.
- Google Play — app distribution, install referrals and in-app reviews.
- Cloudflare — hosting and security for this website.
We may also disclose data if required by law, a court order or a lawful request by a government authority in India, or to protect the rights, safety and property of our users or the public. If Timepass Apps is merged or acquired, data may transfer to the new owner, who must honour this policy.
Some providers process data on servers outside India. Where they do, we rely on their published safeguards and transfer only what is needed, in line with the DPDP Act and any restrictions notified under it.
6. Nalla Naal — Tamil Calendar 2027
Package: com.timepassapps.tamilcalendar
- Calendar and panchangam are calculated on your phone. Your chosen city, rasi and display settings stay on the device.
- Family dates (birthdays, anniversaries, star birthdays, thithi/remembrance days) are stored on your phone. If you create or join a Family Circle, the dates you add to it, and your display name, are stored on our servers (Google Firebase) and shown only to members of that circle. Anyone who has the circle's invite link can ask to join, so share it only with family.
- Notifications use a Firebase Cloud Messaging token. You choose which reminders you receive; you can turn them off in the app or in Android settings.
- Ads: the app shows native ads from Google AdMob, which uses the advertising ID. We do not show full-screen or app-open ads.
- Invites and rewards: when you share an invite, the link carries a referral code. When someone installs through it, Google Play's install referrer tells the app the code so the reward (for example, an ad-free period) can be applied. We do not learn who the person is beyond their app installation.
- Read-aloud uses your phone's built-in text-to-speech engine.
- Location: the app does not use your GPS. You choose your city yourself.
7. GPS Camera
- No ads, no login, no account.
- Camera and location: the app asks for camera permission to take photos and location permission to stamp the place, co-ordinates, date and time on them. This happens on your phone. We do not receive your photos or your location on our servers.
- Address lookup and map: to turn co-ordinates into a readable address or show a small map, the app may use your phone's built-in geocoder or a map service, which receives the co-ordinates for that request only.
- Photos are saved to your phone's gallery. They leave your phone only if you share them.
- Diagnostics: if crash reporting is enabled in a version of the app, it sends technical crash data only (no photos, no location).
8. Your choices and controls
- Ads personalisation: on Android, go to Settings → Google → Ads (or Settings → Privacy → Ads) to reset or delete your advertising ID. Apps will then show only non-personalised ads.
- Notifications: turn individual reminders off in the app, or all of them in Android settings.
- Permissions: you can withdraw camera, location or notification permission any time in Android settings. Features that need it will stop working; everything else keeps working.
- Leave a Family Circle from within the app at any time.
9. Your rights
Under the DPDP Act and other applicable laws, you have the right to:
- get a summary of the personal data we hold about you and how it is used;
- correct, complete or update it;
- have it erased (see Delete your data);
- withdraw consent at any time — this does not affect anything done before you withdrew it;
- nominate another person to exercise your rights if you die or become unable to;
- raise a grievance with us, and, if not resolved, complain to the Data Protection Board of India.
To use any of these rights, email sabbu.ask@gmail.com with the subject "Privacy request", the app name and what you want us to do. We may ask you to confirm the request comes from you. We will respond within 30 days, and sooner where we can.
10. How long we keep data
- Family Circle data: for as long as the circle exists and you are a member. When you delete your data or leave, your entries are removed within 30 days.
- Analytics data: kept by Firebase for up to 14 months, then deleted.
- Crash reports: up to 90 days.
- Emails to us: as long as needed to resolve your request, and up to 3 years for our records, unless you ask us to delete them sooner.
- If we have not heard from an account for 3 years, we will delete its server data after telling you, where we can reach you.
We may keep some data longer where the law requires it.
11. How we protect data
All data between our apps and our servers is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS). Server data is stored with access controls that limit it to people who need it to run the service. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects your personal data, we will tell you and the Data Protection Board of India as the law requires.
12. Children
Our apps are made for families but are intended for use by adults. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 18 without verifiable consent from a parent or guardian, and we do not show children personalised ads or track their behaviour. If you believe a child has given us personal data, write to us and we will delete it.
13. This website
This website does not use cookies, does not run advertising, and does not use tracking scripts. Our host, Cloudflare, processes standard technical data (such as IP address and browser type) to deliver and secure the site. Fonts are served by Google Fonts. If we add privacy-friendly, cookie-free visitor statistics in future, we will update this section.
14. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as our apps change or the law changes. We will change the "Last updated" date at the top, and for significant changes we will tell you in the app before they take effect.
